Windows NT platform; Monitor and manage each server’s TCP/IP statistics from a workstation by deploying SNMP; Three conditions must be set: TCP/IP setting, SNMP agent-software, and SNMP management-software.
Note: If Windows platform TCP/IP statistics must be sent to UNIX platform, install SNMP management software on UNIX platform. SNMP is RFC 1157. Defined in MIB; SNMP v.1 takes 5 PDUs; NT service for replying-requesting network protocol; Object SysDescr must have object identifier (i.e. Cisco’s object identifier = 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0); And the object (ifPhysAddress) may contain one instance (one interface) or more instances (more than one interface);
